Bix Max Interview

By: Elizabeth G.

Question: How did Big Max start their business?

Answer from Max: We started in the pandemic, we were another restaurant called “Eat and Help Previsions,” but we didn’t open anymore because of the pandemic. We closed and sold burgers for people to take from the community. And it worked so well we turned it into a business in 2021.

Q: What are the main competitors?

A: Theres a lot of burger places in Seattle, but luckily not very many. There is FlameBurger nearby, which I’ve never been to, and then at the bottom of the hill there’s Little Woody’s, who is main competitor.

Q: What challenges is Big Max experiencing?

A: I would have to say the price of food, the price of beef gets more expensive. Staffing a big restaurant is hard. I think the cost of goods is the most challenging experience right now.

Q: What motivates your work?

A: My family motivates my work, my burgers that I make for my kids they both go to Coe. And I want them to have something to run when they’re older. So, my kids.

Q: What are your greatest strengths?

A: My greatest strengths are sharing with the community what I love, and what my family loves. By being hospitable, and making great food. So, my greatest strengths are a combination of making great burgers that everybody loves, and helping Big Max be very welcoming, is what I’m best at.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: I have 3 pets, 2 dogs and 1 cat. I have a big dog named Boey, he’s a huge wolf-looking dog, and a little white fluffy dog named Tiffony. Our cat is named Dony. We had a second cat name George Michael, but he passed away, but he’s still in our heart.

Q: Does Big Max have a secret recipe?

A: Yes, we have many secret recipes. Most of all the recipes are secret, the sauces, the patties, everything is secret.

Q: Is there anything else you want to say?

A: Well, I appreciate all the support from the community, and Coe. And people like you, anyone spreading the word of what we love to do.
