Wonder Movie Review

Yana D.

How much does our physical appearance define our worth in the eyes of others? 10-year-old Auggie Pullman just started middle school. Since he’s been homeschooled his whole life, he thought people would judge him because he has a disorder called Treacher Collins syndrome, this disorder he was born with made his face look quite special. He was right, people did stare at him in the halls, and they bullied him and made fun of him. Every day coming home from school he would pretend he was fine, although he really wasn’t. This movie shows the different perspectives from each person, which shows that everyone’s in this together and we all have one thing in common. That we are all human, no matter how you look. Throughout this movie, Auggie finds friends that give him all sorts of emotions like, sadness, happiness, anger and joy. He overcame different challenges and reunited with his best friends. They proved the bullies wrong and showed them that what really matters is what’s in the inside, not the out. So “When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind.”

I definitely recommend watching this movie, I felt many emotions all throughout every special moment in this movie. It shows everyone is different, and that’s a good thing. You should never judge a book by its cover. Although there are so many great movies out there, Wonder is for sure my favorite movie ever!
