In the Sandpit
A. Toree Q.

In the sand I sat
With two eyes staring back at me
Say something to her, I thought
Inconceivably.
A miracle happened
Right then and there
Those eyes made the works
Of what the following bears.
“Hi! I'm Alexi
You look familiar to me.”
In a rush, I respond
“What grade is thee?”
“I go to first grade.”
“Same” I must reply,
For that is the truth,
For I never lie.
“I go to the school,
Coe, I believe,
And may I ask,
What school goes thee?”
“Why, I go to Coe, too
Does this perhaps,
Seem like an uncanny coincidence,
To you?”
“Let’s move along” says she
“What teacher do you have?”
“Ms. D”
I reply with dignity.
“Which D, Ms. Diller, or Ms. Defendorf?”
“The later, for I am quite sure
I do not have the other
Anymore.”
“Same here!
What a surprise.
I untagged you,
From the tagger’s dimise”
And thus,
Became good friends, us
And never has ended yet,
And hopefully never does.
Dear readers,
This is the tale of how I came across my best friend. Although the words aren’t exact, obviously, it is along the lines of our conversation. I hope that you enjoyed the story, and how coincidences can seem very strange indeed. This took place in the sand pit of Big Howe, by Queen Anne farmer’s market.
