Tips for fourth graders going to Island Wood next year

Hi fourth graders. (or rising fifth graders) Today I will be telling you about what you are going to experience at Island Wood. On the first day you will drop of your luggage then head straight to the friendship circle and find the people in your field group. This is the group you will be spending the most of your day with.

With your field group you will do activities like going to the beach, solo walks, fun games, and much more. You should definitely get on your instructors good side right away. If you do you can convince your instructor to let you and your group do the fun stuff you really want to do.

Next up is the dining. The first day, for lunch, you eat lunch at the friendship circle. Then at dinner you will experience the "5-star hotel" dining experience. you will get either tacos or pasta. and for dessert one of the three, vanilla cupcakes, ice cream, or brownies. The next night will be pizza, but they use the same pasta sauce and pizza sauce!

When it is time to go to sleep you will be in a room with at least one of your friends. try to get to sleep as fast as possible, because you will have a very big day ahead of you.when you get to your cabin you will get to choose 1 of 5 beds. One of two top bunks, one of two bottom bunks, or the giant murphy bed. The only downside of the murphy bed is that there is no night light :(. This is where I will stop so enjoy Island Wood!
