Halloween Night

Soren B.

It’s Halloween night, and I’m putting on my pirate costume. My dad is worrying that I will get lost or hurt. He worries a lot. Then my friends knock at the front door. My dad says, “trick or treaters already?” When my dad opened the front door a gust of wind came in and gave me that fall feeling. I don’t know why but I felt a little more scared when that happened.

My friends are dressed up as a zombie, a vampire, a fairy, and a werewolf. My dad says the werewolf costume is too scary. I say, “it’s Halloween, dad! The scarier the better!”

"Anyways, are you ready to grind some candy?” I say. Then my dad says, “what does grind mean?” We all laugh. I tell him it means to get a lot of candy.

I grab my bag and say, “c’mon gang, let’s go! Dad, you might be worrying but we’ll all be safe!” That was my first mistake…

My first clue of what was happening was when Harry (the guy dressed as a werewolf) uncontrollably howled. He said that he was acting but I was suspicious. The closest house saw that. And they barricaded their front door.

As we continued trick or treating more weird stuff happened. But only when there was a clear full moon (with no clouds). Harry seemed fine for a minute, but then he went with the zombie somewhere and only Harry came back.

The fairy, the vampire, and I were all suspicious. Our suspicions were confirmed when Harry attacked a decoration of a hanging foot. Harry must’ve noticed our suspicions because he said he would go ahead to the next house. We walked through the yard seeing big purple tentacles and giant skeletons. Then Harry jumped out of the bushes and chased some trick or treaters. The vampire ran but the werewolf caught up so I took this as my chance to escape home.

The next day Harry was saying he was full and I knew why…
