MLB interview

Leo C.

For this month, we interview Corbin Carroll, Center Fielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team, and learn more about his experience in last year's MLB World Series. Corbin grew up in Seattle and played baseball in Queen Anne Little League.

Question: You had an incredible first season in the MLB, winning Rookie of the Year and making it to the World Series. How do you plan to top that this season?Answer from Corbin: I don't. I try not to think in that way in terms of results. That's not what got me to have the year I had last year. And that's not what's gonna continue to drive me forward. So just focusing on my process and the day to day little things, staying very present will allow good things to happen.

Q: As a rookie last year, what was it like playing the World Series? Do you remember any highlights?

A: Off the field I got to meet Derek Jeter, which was really cool for me since he's such a legend in the game. Very memorable for me. There were about 500 people on the field, and they're taking BP (Batting Practice), and I've never seen anything like that. And of course the game itself, felt like regular baseball, nothing really different. We prepared the same, and it was an incredible experience for us.

Q: Coming off of that World Series appearance, what excites you most about this season?A: What excites me the most is we've got a great team coming back. The team is made up of a lot of the same guys who played last year, along with a couple new guys who are fitting in really well. I'm excited, we'll go out there and see how things turn out.
