Kraken Hockey is Back!
Kennedy W.

Hello Coe Cougars! Kraken hockey is back! And better than ever. The Seattle Kraken is my favorite sports team and so I wanted to tell people a little bit about the Kraken.
First, I’d like to give you an update on the players because there have been some changes to the roster since last season. Fan favorites including Brandon Tanev a.k.a Turbo and Yanni Gourde have left the Kraken to different teams.
One new player that we’ve gotten is Mason Marchment. He is a 6’4 winger (a winger is a forward on the sides instead of the middle). Before he was on the Kraken he played on the Dallas Stars.
We’ve also got a new defenseman, Ryan Lindgren and a new rookie who is only 19 years old, Berkley Catton.
If you watch a game here is a guide to some of the hockey slang that you might hear:
Apple- an assist to a goal
Celly- a celebration after scoring a goal
Mitts- a player’s gloves
Pillows- the goalie’s leg pads
Saucer pass (or sauce)- when the puck is passed and it flies through the air like a flying saucer
Shorty- a goal scored when you are defending a power play
The Kraken are off to a great start with their new coach. If you watch a game on TV, remember that it is on Prime Video. Go Kraken!
