Small Spaces Review

Adrian C.

Small Spaces is a spooky book for readers that enjoy scary stories. It is about Ollie, Coco, and Brian’s adventure through the woods to save the 6th grade class of Misty Valley middle school from the smiling man and his scarecrow minions. They go through many challenges, like having to sleep in a tiny cave in the middle of a forest, with scarecrows waiting to take them to the smiling man so they will become scarecrows too.

It is a great book, and I highly recommend it if you like to be reading all day to get to the intense conclusion of Katherine Arden’s Small Spaces. I would rate it four out of five stars, because the book makes your heart race, and you can make some great connections with the characters. If you read it, be ready for some scenes that make your heart skip a beat, and others that could make you jump out of your seat in fright.

Small Spaces is the first book in the Small Spaces quartet. Other books in the quartet include Dead Voices, Dark Waters, and Empty Smiles. Katherine Arden is from Austin, Texas, and has written many other books like The Winternight Trilogy, and The Warm Hands of Ghosts. She is a very talented author, and if you like Small Spaces, you should definitely read the rest of the series.
