The Coe Playground Should be Improved

Aren’t you tired of the same old same old? I know I am. It’s always 1st recess, play structure, 2nd recess, 4-square, and maybe 3rd recess, basketball. But still, it’s just the same thing over and over. There is 4-square, kickball, basketball, and some things on the play structure that are fun. I think the Coe playground should be improved because some things aren’t safe, there is not much to choose from, and it’s not practical.
My first reason is that some things on the Coe playground aren’t safe. We should get turf instead of blacktop. I think that because most injuries are from falling on the blacktop. I have experienced that many times. Also, the blue slide should be removed and replaced with a straight slide. Straight slides are safer for jumping off, unlike the blue slide which can cause injuries when jumped off. I think we should have a straight bridge too, so that kids don’t lay on it and let their friends jump on it.
My second reason is that there are not a lot of choices. A lot of kids like to play sports at recess, such as soccer, basketball, kickball and 4-square. But some kids don’t like to do things like that. But for those kids it’s hard, because they then just have the bridge, tower, monkey bars, and a few slides. Maybe to some people that sounds fun but trust me, once you play there for 10 months to 6 years it’ll just seem like there is not much to choose from. So, we should add swings. Or maybe a small rock wall? There are many ways we can raise money too.
My last reason is that the playground is not practical in a couple ways. First, it doesn’t have a covered area. Kids don’t like rainy day recess, trust me. My proof? When it’s rainy outside and it’s close to my class’s recess and they don’t ring the bell, my whole class cheers. Also, when the rainy day recess bell does ring my whole class groans. If there was a covered area we could stay under there and still be outside. Also, the fence should be taller. Most of the time we lose balls because they go over the fence and then roll down the street and get popped.
The Coe playground should be improved. It has unsafe things, not much to choose from, and some of it is unpractical. So, now that you’ve read this, don’t just stand there, go to the suggestion box and write that the Coe playground should be improved! The more voices there are the more likely there is for change!
