How does it feel to be nominated as a MLB Manager of The Year finalist?

 

I’m lucky to have a great coaching staff and support team. Our players did some awesome things this year and it was a fun season. These type of awards are a team award!

 

 

Were you surprised by the nomination?

 

 

What are your thoughts on the 2021 season? It was pretty intense at the end--I was at the last game. How do you stay so calm on the outside?

The last month of the season was fun to be a part of. We played very well and you could feel the support from our fan base. Our players gained a lot of confidence and it is so important to stay consistent throughout the entire season with emotions…

 

What do you do in the off season?

 

I like to travel and my family is spread throughout the country so I use this time to see them. I also enjoy skiing and golfing.

 

What are you most looking forward to next season? 

 

Looking forward for our team to take the next step and get into the playoffs. It won’t be easy and we need to continue to get better.

 

What do you value most in your players?

 

Very important to have a consistent routine in terms of your preparation. I also think it is very important to be a good teammate and enjoy competing!
